Life is too short to drink bad coffee

Our roasters

We pick the month's roaster the way we would pick for ourselves. Right now there are three: Hibi, Supreme Roastworks and Jacu.

Hibi

Oslo

Hibi is small, new and already runner-up in the Norwegian roasting championship 2026. It is the coffee we drink ourselves on an ordinary weekday, so it was an easy pick.

Recognition

  • Falstaff Best New Opening in Norway, 2026
  • Second place, Norwegian Coffee Roasting Championship 2026

Supreme Roastworks

Oslo

Supreme Roastworks has roasted coffee in Oslo since 2008 and picked up plenty of awards along the way, including the Brewers Cup world title in 2015. We have been drinking their coffee for years. It does not disappoint.

Competition record

  • World Brewers Cup champion, Gothenburg 2015. Co-owner Odd-Steinar is still the only Norwegian to win it.
  • Norwegian Brewers Cup champion four years running, 2014 to 2017.
  • Three straight World Brewers Cup finals, 2014 to 2016.

Jacu

Ålesund

This month’s roaster · September

Jacu has been one of Ole Jørgen's favourites since he started out as a barista. They roast light: filter coffee from Africa, Asia and South and Central America, a series of rare coffees, and espresso they often develop together with baristas. Everything is roasted on a Loring S35 in Ålesund.

More about the roaster: Jacu

The name comes from the jacu, a South American bird that flies from plantation to plantation picking the best coffee cherries. Jacu buys straight from the farmer where they can, otherwise from distributors they trust, so the people behind the coffee are properly paid. The roastery started in 2011, and Anne Birte Bjørdal Hanken runs it today.

Recognition

  • Third place in the first Norwegian Coffee Roasting Championship, 2013
  • Norwegian Design Council's Award for Design Excellence, 2013
